Cooking Potatoes Properly
There are many ways that you can cook a potato but the one way you should never use is the microwave. People like to cook in the microwave because it is fast and simple. But potatoes are made up of 80% water and when heated in a microwave the water turns into vapor which acts to steam the potatoes.
Steam potatoes are wet and soggy which is not very appetizing. If you want a baked potato that is light and fluffy on the inside with a golden brown skin that is flaky on the outside you are going to have to bake the spud in a conventional oven.
Potatoes have been around for over 10,000 years with the baked potato having its roots back in Peru when they were first cooked up by the Incas 3,000 years ago. The potato was easy to find, filling, and it taste good. All those reasons still apply as to why we still love to eat potatoes.
